Honoring the Past while Supporting the Future

The Gaston School
Memories Of A Bygone Era
The largest Oil Boom brought the largest Rural School in the world in the 1930's. The old school is just a piece of the legacy that was left from the East Texas Oil Boom. Our virtual museum honors the Life before and After the Oil, the Cyril/Joinerville community and all that the Gaston School afforded those who passed through its hallowed halls Step back in time as you virtually walk the halls with the early Gaston/Joinerville Community
Gaston Reunion 2025
Memories
Alumni met at Sal's Restaurant in Henderson to celebrate their cherished memories. Lot's of reminiscing about the good times spent at Gaston School and honoring the friendships that have stood the test of time. The turnout was better than expected and we look forward seeing everyone again next October. Contact Kenneth "Twister" Thomas at kdttwister21@gmail.com if you are interested in helping with the reunion in 2026.

Gaston Museum and Community Outreach
Although the doors closed to the Gaston Museum as we knew it, we are excited to announce that the grounds have been passed along to a new group. They will keep the Gaston Museum name adding Community Outreach. (Honoring the past while supporting the future.) This webite will remain as our virtual tour and archives while a room in the building will be disignated to the history of the school, community and veterans. A YouTube channel is still in progress for all of the amazing stories, articles and history that surrounds the great Gaston School and the Joinerville community.
Don't forget about the artifacts and memorabilia that have been divided between the WRCCISD ( High School Building, Depot Museum in Henderson(Rusk County), the East Texas Oil Museum in Kilgore,( school memoribilia and early 30's / 40's memorabilia). Some of our Veterans room has been donated to various local Veterans organizations however, some artifacts honoring the heroes of Gaston will be housed here in the Museum room.
While we will be eternallly grateful to all of those before us that have dedicated their lives to carrying on the legacy, we look forward to the wonderful support programs that will certainly represent the kindness, care and love of family and community that embodied those before us. To contact Stephanie Osteen/Historan please call 903-812-1794 and leave a message. I will try and get back to you asap. To reach the Museum/Outreach please call the new number 903-646-7687.

Anyone desiring to make donations to the outreach can contact the museum number for answers to any questions that you might have. I see no better way than for our past to help those in need in the future.
